SHANGHAI, China (AP) - Sony Pictures has set up a joint venture television and film co-production unit in China, taking advantage of a loosening of restrictions in the communist country on the tightly controlled industry.
Sony and majority-stake holder Hua Long Film Digital Production Co., of the state-run China Film Group, will co-produce television programming for local and global audiences - becoming the first Hollywood studio to do so, Sony quoted Yang Buting, chairman of China Film Group, as saying.
