Government may step in to solve DRB-HICOM dispute

THE Government could very well make good on its warning of intervening in the dispute over the ownership of a 15.8% strategic block in DRB-Hicom Bhd given that Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary and the Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin-led consortium are unable to settle the matter, analysts said.

That, they said, could result in Government-linked companies (GLCs) exerting their collective 35% stake in the motor-based conglomerate and taking matters into their own hands to ensure that the issue of strategic ownership of the company did not derail its operations.
