MODULAR Techcorp Holdings Bhd hopes to issue 20 million to 30 million smart cards over the next two years in the wake of heightened awareness on the importance of such technology to offset personal identification and national security issues.

Group chairman Ibrahim Hussain said huge losses incurred in automated teller machines (ATM) transactions and credit card fraud and public security fears would drive many financial institutions, governments and public bodies worldwide to implement and enhance their smart card systems.
