CONTRARY to the perception in some quarters that the KL stock market is unattractive to foreign players, there was a net inflow of foreign portfolio investments totalling RM15.9bil in the first quarter of this year, CIMB Bhd chief executive/managing director Datuk Nazir Razak said yesterday.
He said the figure was the highest to be recorded since quarterly data were first made available in 1995. By comparison, only an inflow of RM4bil was recorded in 2003 while the previous year saw a negative flow of RM6.5bil.
