MANILA, Philippines (AP) - The Philippine government on Tuesday tried to ease concern over a potential economic crisis fueled by a drop in the peso to record-low levels.
"Our economic fundamentals are steady and strong,'' said Ignacio Bunye, a spokesman for President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. "The peso dip is a result of transient market vagaries and poses no threat to the economy.''
