THE Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) together with the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB) have organised a Specialised Malaysian Construction Services Marketing Mission to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.
In a statement on Saturday, Matrade said the mission, which began yesterday and ends on Friday, was a follow-up to the trade and investment mission to Vietnam led by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz in June 2004.
It said the aim of the mission was to further familiarise the Malaysian construction companies with the business environment in Vietnam, besides exploring construction business opportunities and tie-ups between Malaysian and their Vietnamese counterparts.
The mission would also promote exports of Malaysian construction services and strengthen the existing business networking.
The 55-member delegation comprises representatives of government agencies and 35 construction and construction-related companies such as contractors, developers, building materials manufacturers, suppliers, architects and engineers.
Among others, the mission programme includes a briefing and discussion with the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment Vietnam and Developers of Major Construction Projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
There would also be visits to construction sites such as Hanoi Housing Development Projects, Nio Bai Industrial Zone, My Phuoc Industrial Park and the New Township of Industry, Services and Residential of Binh Duong Province.
Matrade said business consultations between Malaysian construction companies with Vietnamese ones and related government agencies would also be held. Bernama
