8TV to increase viewership

8TV, the latest addition to the list of free-to-air (FTA) television stations in the country, intends to boost its viewership to 20% of the peninsula population from the current 12% next year. 

Chief operating officer Ahmad Izham Omar said 8TV targeted to increase its coverage in the northern and central regions of the peninsula and was prepared to spend about RM15mil to add three more transmitters each at Kelapak Buruk in Negri Sembilan, Gunung Pelindung in Kuantan and Ledang in Malacca, in addition to the existing five that it owns.
