THE new tax treatment on interest-in-suspense (IIS) announced in Budget 2005 is not expected to have any major impact on banks’ earnings, analysts say.
“On the surface, although the new tax treatment would seem to help reduce banks’ taxation and ultimately boost earnings, our check with several banks indicated otherwise,’’ OSK Research said in its report on Budget 2005.
