SEA markets close mixed after reacting sharply to Jakarta blast


STOCK markets in South-East Asia closed mixed yesterday after reacting somewhat sharply at first to news of a bomb blast outside the Australian embassy in Jakarta which killed eight people and injured more than 160. 

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) snapped a two-day winning streak to close 3.14 points lower at 846.97 and the Jakarta Composite Index fell 6.49 points to 782.65. Singapore's Straits Times Index also initially fell on the news but ended the day 6.15 points higher at 1,965.28. Investors in Thailand appeared unperturbed and the SET Index gained 10.83 points to 641.04.
