TOKYO: Honda Motor Co.'s Fit compact car was Japan's best-selling vehicle in August, topping the country's monthly sales ranking for the first time in a year, after improvements in the model's fuel consumption and styling.
Honda sold 11,663 units of the Fit in August, 4.7% more than last year, according to data supplied by the Tokyo-based Japan Automobile Dealers Association. Toyota Motor Corp. sold 9,709 Corolla cars, 11% fewer than last year, taking the ranking's second spot.
