Concern over price competition among gloves exporters

PLANTATION Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui has expressed concern over the keen price competition among local rubber glove exporters, which has resulted in flat export value growth in recent years despite sharply higher export volume.

Chin said the export volume of rubber gloves had increased more than two-fold within the past three years, to 52.9 billion pieces last year from 23 billion in 2000. However, its value in export had largely remained flat at around RM3.4bil between 2000 and 2003.
