MANILA, Philippines (AP) - Manila shares closed higher Friday, taking a cue from the strong finish of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. in New York overnight, traders said.
The 30-company Philippine Stock Exchange Index closed up 9.57 points, or 0.6 percent, at 1,582.84, following Thursday's 16.90 point gain to 1,573.27.
