NEW YORK: Stocks ended slightly higher on Friday but stayed near lows for the year as oil prices surged past US$46 a barrel, offsetting a positive outlook from computer maker Dell Inc.
Dell, the worlds largest PC producer, rose more than 4% after it gave a better-than-expected third-quarter outlook.
