RHB Capital to start Islamic banking operations next year

RHB Capital Bhd, which received Finance Ministry approval last week to operate a full-fledged syariah-based bank, expects to start Islamic banking operations by the second half next year. 

“We want to be more focused on Islamic banking, rather than just have Islamic banking 'windows',” executive chairman Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib told StarBiz on the sidelines of a Kuala Lumpur Business Club dinner talk by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Monday.
