SALES of Malaysian manufactured goods grew 19.7% to RM32.2bil in May from RM26.9bil a year ago, according to preliminary data released yesterday by the Statistics Department.
However, the May increase was lower than the 25% rise in April. Economists say this second consecutive month-on-month decline in manufacturing sales could be an indication of “moderating” demand. The latest sales figure was 2.1% lower than April's RM32.9bil, which in turn was 2.3% below March’s RM33.7bil.
