LUMILEDS Lighting, the world's brightest solid-state illumination source, expects to double its manufacturing workforce when its new plant in Penang is fully deployed.

Operating since end-April, the new facility is housed in a 200,000 sq ft building at Phase 3, Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone Industrial Area and will boost Lumiled's manufacturing capacity in line with growing demand for its Luxeon LEDs (light emitting diodes), according to Lumileds Worldwide Manufacturing vice-president Greg Crema.
