Investors shift focus to bumi construction firms

THE Bursa Malaysia main board construction sector index fell back yesterday after rising for six consecutive days, but the shares of smaller cap companies like Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd (AZRB) and TSR Capital Bhd made strong gains as investors shifted their focus to bumiputra contractors.

At the close of trading, the index was down 2.01 points or 1.12% at 177.71. Only AZRB, TSR Capital and two other counters – Ireka Corp Bhd and Protasco Bhd – ended the day in plus territory.
