Solutions provider for the telecommunications industry DVM Technology Bhd is expected to be awarded a sizeable contract by Atlas One Sdn Bhd, a broadband services provider.
Mesdaq market-listed DVM is the front-runner to win a contract of between RM50mil and RM80mil from Atlas One, sources said.
This is a significant job for DVM, which posted a turnover of just RM13.9mil last year. The contract, the sources said, would first be awarded to a company within Kumpulan Darul Ehsan (KDE), the investment holding company of the Selangor state government. KDE will sub-contract part of the job to DVM.
Atlas One has licences as a network facilities provider (NFP), and application services provider (ASP).
According to news reports, it provides wireless broadband services to corporate users in the Klang Valley.
The company said it would cost about RM1bil to lay its entire network of wireless equipment, the reports said.
Its competitors include the streamyx service provided by Telekom Malaysia Bhd.
DVM provides equipment and software as a solutions provider to telecommunications companies.
Its customers include Maxis, DiGi and Telekom Cellular.
The Mesdaq company launched its latest offerings - Next Generation Networking products - in April. DVM was listed on the Mesdaq Market in early January.
Soon after its listing, its shares hit a high of over 70 sen each. Its price has since dropped to the 30 sen level, below its initial public offer price of 40 sen.
The stock was actively traded and it gained 4 sen to 33 sen yesterday.
