Merger of private colleges timely


The Higher Education Ministry's call for private institutions of higher learning tomerge is seen by many as a move that will improve the quality of education andstrengthen the industry. 

As an encouragement for these institutions to merge, the government is said tobe looking at special incentives and will be coming out with a suitable merger conceptsimilar to the model used to merge insurance firms and banks.
