THE Campro engine is supposed to be the trump card for Proton Holdings Bhd to retain domestic market share and to establish a foothold in the overseas automobile markets. 

The launch of GEN.2, which is fitted with the new engine, early this year raised hope that Proton's sales volume would improve, especially with two more new models to be rolled out in the second half year.
