A NEW technology developed by the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi) for shipping chrysanthemums by sea is expected to boost Malaysian exports of cut flowers, particularly to Japan where demand and prices are rising.

Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Malaysian flowers were already known for good plant architecture and durability and the new technology would be an added advantage as it could help cut transportation cost by 60% while allowing larger quantities per shipment.
