CONGLOMERATE Sime Darby Bhd is involved in a cross-section of businesses throughout Malaysia and the region, and one particular area it has been paying a lot of attention to recently has been its motor vehicle division. 

It already sells the status-symbol BMW and the old favourite Ford, but its appetite for new marques has increased with its planned acquisitions of Hyundai-Berjaya Corp Bhd (HBC) and Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd's motor vehicle and truck business in New Zealand.
