BEIJING: Inflation in China rose to an annual 4.4% in May, the fastest in seven years, as prices for grain and fuel soared and added to pressure on authorities to raise interest rates.
The consumer price rise was higher than April's year-on-year 3.8%, but was largely in line with expectations that inflation in the world's sixth biggest economy could take another few months before beginning to cool.
