TOKYO: Japan's Sharp Corp said yesterday it has filed a suit against the Japanese unit of Taiwan appliance maker TECO Electric and Machinery Co, alleging it violated a patent concerning liquid crystal display (LCD) panels.
Sharp said it filed the suit with the Tokyo District Court on Monday, alleging that a TECO 20-inch television equipped with LCD panels made by Taiwan's AU Optronics illegally used Sharp technology for ensuring picture quality in LCDs.
