John McGowan takes over as treasurer of HSBC

John McGowan

HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd said John McGowan has been appointed its treasurer, taking over from Hong Aik-Sai who was recently appointed head of global markets for HSBC in Japan.  

McGowan joined the HSBC group in 1977 after graduating with a degree in Business Studies from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh. 

He has spent 20 of his 26 years in the HSBC group working in treasury and debt capital markets.  

Most of his career has been in the Asia Pacific, where he has been the treasurer for HSBC in South Korea, India, Taiwan and his recent assignment was as treasurer HSBC Philippines.
