SHAHAR Noor, Panasonic Malaysia Sdn Bhd associate director of corporate communications, has been re-elected president of the Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA).
MAA said in a statement that Bharat Avalani, Unilever (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd channel communications manager, also retained his MAA post of vice-president.
Speaking at the association's AGM recently, Shahar urged MAA members to be innovative in business decisions and at the same time, build consumer confidence through quality products and services.
He pointed out that in a mixed and fragmented media environment, marketers would have to be very careful in choosing the communications medium to be effective in their campaigns.
Marketers, he said, must bring the relationship between brands and the consumer closer.
On MAA's future direction, Shahar said it would promote the importance of advertising to drive competitiveness and thereby boost the economy.
MAA would also encourage self-regulation in the communication tools used to reach the consumer.
