Kia turns 60 and still going strong

TO the Koreans, the 60th birthday is among the three most important birthdays and is considered an auspicious occasion likely marked by a lavish feast where children, grandchildren and relatives - and often, friends - offer their congratulations.

Thus when Kia Motors Corp (KMC) clocked up 60 years last month, the South Korea's second largest and oldest manufacturer gathered its “extended family” in Seoul for a grand celebration that kicked off with a personal welcome from chairman and chief executive officer Chung Mong-Koo and ended with a dazzling display of fireworks two evenings later.
