Metrojaya Bhd expects the young fashion market to offer good business opportunities in the future, general manager Sin Tiew Cheo said.

“We expect this industry to grow, because it is one new area,'' Sin said.

Besides that, consumers nowadays have increased purchasing power and they will continue to spend a lot on their children, he told Bernama after the Barbie Style Collection Spring Summer 2004 Fashion Show, in Kuala Lumpur last Friday.

As for the Barbie branded clothing, Sin said the clothings were expected to enjoy good sales. The company has just brought in the latest fashion collection of Barbie and expects the line to do well in view of its established name as the producer of the world’s most famous fashion doll.

“By reflecting on the amazing history of the Barbie brand, it is not surprising to see the brand raise its profile in the fashion stakes,” he added.

Meanwhile, Licensing Director (Asia) Mattel Brands Consumer Products, Robyn Ogunbambi said: “For years, Barbie clothing has been a favourite for girls and this year will be no exception. “The new Spring & Summer Barbie style collection for girls on trends is to keep the brand relevant.” – Bernama
