The Store

IF one believes in a sustainable rise in consumer spending and is looking for a stock that will benefit from the trend, The Store Corp Bhd could be a choice. The retail chain owns 38 outlets that are mostly located in secondary towns. Focus on secondary towns is The Store's strategy to fend off stiff competition that is eating into profit margins. The group's pre-tax profit rose 11% to RM37mil for the financial year just concluded March 31 on marginally higher revenue of RM1.16bil. Earnings per share came in at 38.58 sen against last Friday's closing of RM2.60, representing an attractive price-earnings ratio of 6.7 times.
