Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will present the keynote address and officiate at the second East Asia Congress (EAC) to be held at the Palace of the Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur from June 21 to 23. Some 500 political, business, academic and media leaders form 13 countries are expected to attend.
The congress is organised by the East Asia Economic Centre (EAEC) at Institute of Strategic and International Studies (Isis) Malaysia.
It will deliberate on ways to sustain East Asia's economic growth and dynamism, the impact and responses to regionalism in Europe and the Americas, specific monetary and financial co-operation, promoting labour mobility, raising educational standards, developing a healthy early warning system, and more effective responses by the regional broadcast media.
