Datuk Yap Pian Hon, the Member of Parliament for Serdang, has been appointed new chairman of Klang Port Authority for a one-year term effective April 19 . 

In announcing the appointment on Thursday, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said Yap would be taking over from Tan Sri Ting Chew Peh, who has been holding the post for the past four years. 

Chan said Yang di-pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalulail has consented to Yap’s appointment. – Bernama 

Hilton Kuala Lumpur, the soon-to-opened 510-room hotel atop KL Sentral, has appointed Kees Hartzuiker as general manager. 

Hartzuiker, who has over 18 years of experience at the Hilton group, was charged with the opening of Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach Resort and Hilton Dubai Creek in the United Arab Emirates prior to his Malaysian posting. 

In 1994, he became the Hilton group's youngest general manager at age 32. 

Sebatik assemblyman Datuk Dr Patawari Patawe has been appointed the new chairman of Warisan Harta Sabah Sdn Bhd, the State Government investment arm, with an authorised share capital of RM1bil. 

The appointment took effect on May 17. 

Dr Patawari, 47, is also a qualified ear, nose and throat specialist. 

He has held the position of chairman and director of Damai Specialist Centre Sdn Bhd and member of various trade chambers in Sabah. 

As of Nov 30, 1997, Warisan Harta Sabah’s paid-up capital stood at RM393.18mil. – Bernama
