AMSTERDAM: Saudi Arabia asserted its authority yesterday as the world’s biggest oil producer as Opec ministers met here to discuss a proposal from the kingdom to boost the cartel’s output.
Signalling that the Opec heavyweight is ready to pump more crude to ease jittery markets and assure supply, Saudi Arabia tabled on Friday the proposal to boost Opec production by more than two million barrels per day.
