MPI’s third quarter pre-tax profit up eight-fold


CHIP maker Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) announced yesterday that its third-quarter pre-tax profit to March 31 surged over 700% to RM51.8mil from RM6.1mil in the same period last year with the recovery in global demand for semiconductors now firmly under way. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, MPI said its net profit grew to RM38.2mil from a mere RM600,000 last year as group revenues rose a healthy 47.6% to RM314.7mil from RM213.2mil in the same three-month period in 2003.
