MANILA, Philippines (AP) - Philippine shares closed sharply lower Monday, bogged down by the threat of higher U.S. interest rates and rising world crude prices, traders said.
The benchmark 30-company Philippine Stock Exchange Index ended down 34.62 points, or 2.3 percent, at 1486.99, its lowest close since April 15, when it finished at 1483.20.
