A MANAGED slowdown in Chinas economic growth rates will only have a moderate effect on the region contrary to the fears in the stock markets, an official of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said.
This assumes that it will be a soft landing for the Chinese economy. The Chinese authorities do not want a hard landing that would cause social instability, Charles Adams, assistant director of the IMFs regional office in Tokyo, said on Friday.
