HONG KONG: The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the territory's de facto central bank, said yesterday it had bought HK$780mil from banks in exchange for US dollars.
Under Hong Kong's currency board system, the HKMA is committed to buying Hong Kong dollars at a fixed rate of HK$7.80 in exchange for each US dollar.
