ASIAN currencies fell sharply yesterday after stronger-than-expected jobs data in the United States raised the likelihood of a hike in US interest rates sooner rather than later.
The Japanese yen fell to below 113 against the greenback for the first time since September last year while the Australian dollar slid below 70 US cents for the first time in six months.
