Industrial output up 13% in March

DRIVEN by surging demand, industrial output in March rose 13% year-on-year to 223.5 from 197.5 in 2003 on the back of positive growth in the manufacturing, electricity and mining sectors. Compared with February, the industrial production index (IPI) registered a positive growth of 3%. 

According to the Statistics Department, all sectors registered increases compared with a year ago, with manufacturing leading the way with 14.9% followed by electricity with 8.3% and mining with 7.5%.
