Boeing lands 50-plane deal for 7E7

TOKYO/SEATTLE: Boeing Co on Monday landed the first order for its new 7E7 Dreamliner, a 50-plane contract from Japan’s All Nippon Airways that clears the way for Boeing to build its first new jet model in a decade and may help boost the plane maker’s sagging market share.

Designed to save cash-strapped airlines money on fuel and operating costs, Boeing hopes the mid-sized 7E7 can help it recover ground lost to European rival Airbus, which overtook it as the world’s biggest commercial jet maker last year.
