IN a move that could open doors for banks to hundreds of thousands of untapped customers, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on Thursday announced it will change its banking rules with immediate effect to allow for greater flexibility in granting or applying for credit cards, the Singapore Business Times reported yesterday.
But the de facto central bank reiterated that its long-standing policy of prudence on making consumer credit available had not changed.
