MANILA, Philippines (AP) - Philippine shares closed sharply higher Monday, inspired by Wall Street's rally Friday and expectations of strong first-quarter corporate results, traders said.
The 30-company Philippine Stock Exchange Index ended up 39.14 points, or 2.7 percent, at 1490.05, its highest closing level since Feb. 10, when it finished at 1490.21.
