GLOBAL financial services provider Citigroup said its banking arm Citibank Bhd will not apply for an Islamic banking licence as it already has a full-fledged banking licence.
Piyush Gupta, Citigroup's country officer for Malaysia and chief executive officer of Citibank, said: “It would be redundant for Citibank ? it makes no sense for a bank with a full-fledged banking licence to apply again for an Islamic banking licence.
