STANDARD & Poor’s (S&P), whose surprise upward revision of Malaysia’s foreign currency sovereign credit rating in October last year was an early catalyst for the stock market rally that month, says another re-rating of the country would be unlikely in the interim.
Malaysia would first need to reduce its fiscal deficit after years of pump priming, and improve the levels of transparency in government policy making, the ratings agency said.
