HONG KONG: Standard Chartered Bank (StanChart) is seeking new private investment opportunities in Asia, the South China Morning Post reported yesterday. It quoted StanChart’s managing director of private equity, Alastair Morrison, as saying the bank was looking for investment opportunities in Greater China, India, South Korea and South-East Asia.
Morrison said the bank had so far invested 10% of its US$300mil private equity fund in three Asian companies, including Chinese telecoms supplier Shenzhen Powercom and Indian drugs firm Aurobindo Pharma. – AFX-Asia
