Govt to seek US$1.3bil syndicated loan for MAS, 1st Silicon


THE government plans to raise US$1.3bil from a syndicated loan for Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and 1st Silicon (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, bankers close to the transaction said. 

MAS, whose aircraft are owned by the government, would get US$1bil of the state-guaranteed credit while US$300mil would go to semiconductor maker 1st Silicon, bankers said. The government had asked banks to submit proposals by next Monday, they added.
