NEW YORK: Socks wholesalers throughout the United States are in a fix since the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection began detaining all imported socks on Feb 2, the first time the department has impounded an entire category of apparel.
The department, under the Department of Homeland Security, is detaining imports for three months while it investigates allegations made by domestic manufacturers that importers are using illegal methods to override import quotas.
