Sime Darby Bhd’s second-quarter net earnings to Dec 31, 2003, fell 6% to RM194.3mil as the ringgit’s depreciation against the euro and Aussie dollar increased costs in its motor vehicle and heavy equipment divisions here.

The higher crude palm oil (CPO) prices and larger contribution from its property unit failed to offset the loss in profit margins elsewhere.
