Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, the chairman, president and chief executive of the Genting group, has bought a 7.33% stake in Olympia Industries Bhd. A filing with the MSEB yesterday showed that he bought 37.3 million shares on the open market on Jan 30.

Olympia is currently undergoing a debt restructuring. On its completion, the company is expected to focus on two core businesses: gaming and stockbroking. And with Genting unit Resorts World Bhd's vast involvement in the gaming, leisure and hospitality sector, this purchase of a private stake heralds better times for Olympia.
