TOKYO: Few in the financial markets expect next month’s meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) leading industrial countries to reverse the US dollar’s decline, a survey jointly conducted by Reuters and Japan’s Jiji Press news agency showed yesterday.
Of the 89 Japan-based economists, strategists and other market-watchers polled, 63, or 71%, said they thought the Feb 6–7 meeting of G7 finance ministers and central bank chiefs would not halt the dollar’s downward trend.
