THE payment card industry in Asia Pacific experienced positive growth last year despite a temporary blip during the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) crisis in the second quarter.
While transactions in Malaysia gradually increased, those in China remained low. Bankers said the proportion of inactive cards in their portfolio averaged 50%.
